Who Needs Pilates?
Everyone can benefit from pilates. As we grow older we rely less and less on muscles to stabilise our torso. These muscles then become weak and underused, which means the body starts to use other muscles to compensate, which can then become overused and injured. The stronger your stabilising muscles become the more improvement you will see in your posture and the less pain you will experience during normal days activities and sport.
Pilates will help:
- increase body awareness
- improve posture
- stabilise shoulder blades and reducing shoulder pain
- tighten abdominal muscles helping to flatten the stomach
- strengthen pelvic floor muscles
Whether you are a professional or amateur sports person, a mum, office worker or pensioner you will benefit from getting your stabilsing muscles working again and reducing the load off other muscles that are being overused. Pilates will help to do this and depending on the level of your general fitness, you will be able to add it to your weekly exercise plan at an appropriate level.
