What is Pilates good for?

Many postural issues are a result of an imbalance in the strength of muscles in the body.

Strain patterns can develop over a number of years as a result of habitual such as carrying heavy bags, daily computer work and frequent driving movements which overuse certain muscles. These strain patterns in the body can then lead weakness of important stabilising muscles and this leads to pain and weakness, but spirals into more overuse in the wrong areas.

Pilates helps locate specific muscle groups, particularly stabilising muscles, strengthens these areas and thus rebalances the use of muscles in the body. This then helps alleviate pain that has developed in muscles that are being overused.
